It is not a matter of it being wrong as much as will you wipe them clean before using them on all the pads and touching your partner? If you are not using your gloves, why not just put it in your own equipment bag instead of where everyone else is walking...
We clean our mats I am sure, then we have kids classes, then adults sweating on the mat then our gloves touch those mats, then we put those same gloves in our bags. Then we carry everything that those gloves picked up in our bags. So here is the question. When we keep our clean uniforms and equipment in our bag back to the camp, when was the last time we clean the inside of our bags so it doesn't contaminate our newly cleaned uniforms and equipment? Where do you keep your mouthpiece? How often fo you rinse it clean when you go home?

Our instructor enforces this at our gym and I greatly appreciate the cleanliness.

True, but at the same time...our faces are on the mat for mma. So are our MMA gloves. We don't enforce this...but I see the concern.

the point being is where else is our habits replacing our equipment. it isn't so much that the gloves are on the mat , but if you're willing to put your clothes on the math you willing to put them on the floor of the locker room, many people with their speeches into the locker room , you can see how to candy cross contamination based on a habit. again I'm actually more concerned with people clean out their equipment bags which hold this equipment.

I agree Master Ace. There are people that don't clean their own equipment once they leave the gym. Myself and my 7 year old son take Mauy Thai and I am "training" him to wipe down his gloves after class and spray his bag with lysol. My husband goes to the same gym and takes the BJJ class. We enforce rules at our house for cleanliness. Right when we get home from our classes we do the following :
1. Take a shower
2. Wash all gym clothes immediately
3. Lysol our gym bags
4. Wipe down equipment with disinfecting wipes
Once you get into this routine it becomes 2nd nature.
Our coach makes sure the mat is cleaned between every class and he wipes down and cleans all equipment that was touch in that class with disinfecting products.
Our gym is clean and we appreciate it.
Also, some people don't think anything about it but it is a rule at our gym ~ when going to the bathroom wear your shoes then take them off before getting onto the mat!
